Property management software has streamlined the user experience.
Berkshire Property Advisors used to depend on a combination of spreadsheets, databases and paper-based processes to manage renovations and capital projects. Often, doing so turned into one big headache.
“There were times when projects were moving faster than approvals of contracts and expenditures, which sometimes took weeks to make their way around the organization, and it was a recipe for overspending,” says Zachary Maggart, Vice President of Redevelopment for the Dallas company. “All too often it was, ‘Let’s get the job done and worry about the paperwork later.’”
In 2008, Maggart’s team partnered with a property management software supplier to develop a product that would address such problems. Created for multifamily renovations and capital improvements, the software streamlines the management of projects from start to finish. Budget, bidding, contracts, financial transactions and lien waivers are all managed through a single platform.
